Canada Includes 16 New Occupations for Foreign Applicants to Apply

Canada’s Express Entry system and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) have expanded to include 16 new occupations under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system, effective from 20 October 2024.

The recent updates to Canada’s immigration programmes aim to attract a broader pool of talent across key sectors.

These newly added occupations cover areas such as healthcare, education, administration, law enforcement, and technical or skilled trades, all of which have been identified as high-growth industries or sectors with significant demand for specialised skills.

Sunday Adeyemo, the Yoruba Nation activist popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has submitted a petition to the UK government.

The contents of the petition are not known, but Igboho is believed to be seeking the support of the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer for the establishment of the Yoruba Nation.

United Kingdom Department for Transport has stated conditions for Air Peace to secure slots at London Heathrow airport.

Air Peace has also been advised to apply to Airports Coordinator Limited (ACL), the independent slot coordinator for slot allocation at the London Heathrow Airport.

A document dated September 5, 2024, signed by Louise Haigh, Secretary of State For Transport, UK, to Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development with the reference number: MC/00019854,yh insisted that the department was not in charge of slot allocation to foreign airlines.
